Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Brightnook Studio (“we”, “us”), an independent studio in Ontario, Canada, for the My Wiselings app (“the app”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

Your account

• You need an account to use the app. You must be at least 13 years old, and if you’re under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
• Keep your sign-in email secure. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
• One person, one account. Don’t create accounts in bulk or automate the app.
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. See Delete your account.

My Wiselings Plus

• Plus is an optional subscription with extra features, such as choosing any figure, Daily Trivia, Ask for a Quote and Legendary Keys. It’s offered monthly or yearly, at the prices shown in the app and on Google Play before you buy.
• Free trial: if a free trial is offered, you won’t be charged until it ends. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you’re charged.
• Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Google Play charges you and handles billing.
• Cancelling: cancel any time in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. You keep Plus until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your account doesn’t cancel the subscription.
• Refunds: purchases are handled by Google Play and follow Google Play’s refund policy. If something went wrong, contact us and we’ll try to help.
• When Plus ends: you keep your collection, Legendary Keys you’ve already earned and the rewards you’ve unlocked. Earning new keys and points needs Plus.
• We may change prices or features. Price changes for existing subscriptions follow Google Play’s rules, which include telling you in advance.

Invites

• Every account has an invite code. A friend can join with your code by installing from your invite link or entering the code in Settings within 7 days of creating their account. A friend can join only one inviter, and can’t use their own code.
• A friend who joins gets one Missed-Day Pass.
• When a friend who joined with your code pays for Plus for the first time, you earn one free month of Plus, given 7 days after their first payment. If their payment is refunded within those 7 days, no month is given.
• You can earn up to 12 free months in total. If you have a renewing subscription, a free month moves your next billing date back; otherwise it adds a month of Plus.
• Free months have no cash value and can’t be transferred.
• We may not count invites that appear fake or abusive, such as made-up or duplicate accounts or paid sign-ups that are refunded, and we may remove months earned that way.
• We may change or end the invite program. Months you’ve already earned stay yours.

Content

• The quotes in the app come from public-domain works and translations, and we cite the source for each one.
• The stories, lessons, scenarios, translations, illustrations, design and code of the app are ours and are protected by copyright. You may share quotes and share cards from the app for personal, non-commercial use. Don’t copy the app’s content in bulk or reuse it in another product.
• We work hard to get facts and attributions right, but the content is for general interest and learning. It isn’t professional, medical, legal or financial advice.

Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the app. For example, don’t break or bypass its security or limits, reverse-engineer it except where the law allows, use bots or scripts, exploit bugs to get rewards, or use the app to break the law. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we close your account for a reason other than a serious or repeated breach, we’ll tell you and, where possible, give you a chance to respond.

The service

• We may update, change or stop parts of the app. We’ll try to give notice of big changes.
• The app needs an internet connection and may occasionally be unavailable.
• The app is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t make promises beyond those in these terms, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived.

Google

These terms are between you and Brightnook Studio, not Google. Google isn’t responsible for the app or its content.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, unless the law where you live gives you the right to rely on local law.
